With every season there is a predictable pattern of what wildlife you expect to see and where. It’s not guaranteed however and nature has its own way of surprising you. Today a song thrush sang from a tree top with its wonderful repeated phrases…ununusal? No. It was delightful, but is the norm for this time of the year. On Friday one of the highlights of the Christmas market in our city was seeing the 200 strong winter roost of pied wagtails, perched above the coloured lights in the one tree in a modern shopping arcade.
